How to check your Reddit pixel is working
The Reddit pixel works if the browser loads pixel.js from redditstatic.com and sends requests to alb.reddit.com/rp.gif with id set to your pixel ID and event=PageVisit. A Purchase should carry a value, a currency and a conversionId, which Reddit uses to remove duplicates.
Skip the DevTools: the free scan loads your page in a real browser, accepts and rejects the cookie banner, and shows what the Reddit pixel actually sent.

Check it yourself in two minutes
- Open DevTools on the Network tab, filter on
reddit, accept the banner and load a page. - Find
rp.gifonalb.reddit.com. Checkidis the pixel ID from Reddit Ads Manager (Events Manager) andeventisPageVisit. - Complete a test order and look for
event=Purchase, with the value, currency and conversion ID in its parameters. - The Reddit Pixel Helper extension for Chrome shows each event; Events Manager lists events received in the last day.
Why the Reddit pixel breaks, and how to fix it
Purchase without value or currency
Reddit can only report return on ad spend if the Purchase event carries the order value and currency:
rdt('track', 'Purchase', {
value: 84.50,
currency: 'USD',
itemCount: 1,
conversionId: 'order-10045'
});
Pixel and Conversions API counted twice
Reddit deduplicates browser and server events that share the same conversionId. If your shop sends both but only one side has the ID, each order shows up twice. Use the order number (or an ID derived from it) on both sides.
The pixel loads before consent
The Reddit pixel sets a first-party cookie when it loads. In the EU and the UK it must wait for marketing consent, through your consent tool or a GTM consent condition. See Ad pixel fires before consent or after "reject".
rdt_cid lost in a redirect
Reddit adds rdt_cid to ad clicks so conversions can be matched to them. A redirect that drops the query string loses it. Test it with the click ID redirect tester.
What the free scan checks
- Reddit pixel loads, and sends at least a page view
- Only one Reddit ID, or a warning if there are more
- Reddit pixel waits until the visitor accepts cookies
- Reddit pixel stops after the visitor clicks "reject all"
- No email addresses in plain text in Reddit pixel requests
- The rdt_cid click ID survives your redirects
Server-side events (Conversions APIs, server-side tagging) are invisible to a public scan, so the report never marks them as working or broken.
